This patient had breast cancer on the right, treated with nipple-sparing mastectomies for both sides. Dr. Hubert placed temporary breast tissue expanders at the same time. She then completed the rest of her cancer treatments, including radiation therapy to the right breast. The middle photo shows her appearance at that time. Once radiation was done, Dr. Hubert then removed the tissue expanders and reconstructed both breasts with the patient’s own abdominal tissue, using DIEP flaps. One round of fat grafting enhanced the overall breast shape. Note that since the mastectomies saved all of the breast skin as well as the nipples, there is no tummy skin visible on the chest.
