Dr. Hubert grew up in the country, outside of Erie, Pennsylvania. He was an Academic All-American basketball player and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York, with a degree in biology. His education then took him to the Ivy League for medical school at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), which has ranked in the top three to five medical schools in the whole country for decades.
For the next (and most important) part of his training as a plastic surgeon, Dr. Hubert stayed at Penn to work with and learn from some of the most distinguished surgical faculty. This six-year program is one of the finest and most competitive in the nation, and he spent time at some of the oldest and most prestigious adult and pediatric hospitals. He also completed an additional one-year fellowship in the laboratory, researching the biology of fat transfer and presenting his work at regional and national meetings.
Credentials and Awards
He has been recognized for several years with awards that include Richmond Magazine Top Doc, Virginia Living Magazine Top Doc, MEDARVA Patient Choice Award, and Best Bedside Manner in OurHealth Magazine for Richmond. Since 2016, Dr. Hubert has served on the committee which writes and edits the annual in-service examination given by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons to both residents in training and practicing plastic surgeons everywhere.
Dr. Hubert’s areas of specialty include cosmetic surgery of the breast, face, and entire body. Some of these are facelift, neck lift, eyelid lift (blepharoplasty), brow lift, rhinoplasty (nose job), breast augmentation, breast implant revision and removal, breast lift (mastopexy), breast reduction, gynecomastia (male breast surgery), tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), liposuction, Brazilian butt lift, fat transfer, and arm lift. He is skilled in non-invasive cosmetic procedures including botox and facial filler treatments, lasers such as fractional carbon dioxide (CO2), thread lifts, and others.
When it comes to reconstructive surgery, Dr. Hubert has a special interest in breast surgery including reconstructive microsurgery. In addition to implant breast reconstruction, he routinely performs DIEP flap microsurgery for breast reconstruction. This surgery is very complex, and only a handful of surgeons across Virginia offer this advanced option for women using their own tissue to make a new breast. Dr. Hubert has quite literally performed hundreds of these operations. He has been in private practice since 2007.
Choosing a surgeon to perform your cosmetic surgery is an important decision. You want to make sure your surgeon is somebody who can help you achieve the results you are looking for. Whether you are interested in breast augmentation, tummy tuck or liposuction, or facial surgery such as an eyelid lift, a nose job, or a facelift, Dr. Hubert has extensive experience in all of these aspects of cosmetic surgery. He has been successfully performing surgeries like these in Richmond since 2009, and in the suburbs of Philadelphia for two years before relocating to central Virginia. His extensive training and background means that Dr. Hubert has the qualifications to perform, and expertise in, cosmetic surgery on all parts of the human body. Dr. Hubert has the skill and creativity to help you achieve your goals, and he works with you to formulate a plan specific to your individual needs and wishes. He has a pleasant, easy-going bedside manner. He takes pride in listening to your concerns and giving you his honest opinion, without arrogance, on how best to get your optimal results.
Be careful with other people who call themselves “cosmetic surgeons”. This can be a “buyer beware” market, and some people who advertise themselves as specializing in cosmetic surgery of a certain part of the body, are in fact, limited by their training and qualifications. For example, some people who do “cosmetic surgery” are actually dentists regulated by the state board of dentistry, not medicine. Dr. Hubert is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties, the gold standard for board certification of medical specialties.
In this video, Dr. Hubert explains in detail what it takes to become a board-certified plastic surgeon. In part one, he discusses the training that is required and the written exam that’s taken around the end of a doctor’s residency as they work towards becoming board certified.
