Breast Lift Richmond
Conveniently located to serve the Richmond and the greater VA area
Mastopexy, or breast lift surgery, helps restore the youthful appearance to the breast by tightening and reshaping the breast. It can also reduce the size of an over-stretched areola (the pigmented, darker or pink portion surrounding the nipple). Patients in search of a breast lift in Richmond (RVA) often choose Dr. Darrin Hubert, an acclaimed board-certified plastic surgeon.
Am I a Good Candidate?
As a woman ages, her breasts can acquire a sagging or drooping appearance due to the stretching of the skin and ligaments that support them. Additional factors which influence these changes include pregnancy and significant weight changes.
Women who are good candidates for a breast lift are at a stable weight and are bothered by the sagging of their breast tissue. This may cause the nipple to lie below the breast crease or even point downward. The best candidates also have realistic expectations for this procedure.
Smoking or vaping nicotine is strongly discouraged, as this may have a disastrous effect on your result.
Breast Lift Techniques
There is a variety of techniques available, depending on the shape of your breasts, overall body proportions, and your goals.
There are three main mastopexy techniques:
- Donut Mastopexy – This involves the creation of a circular incision around the areola and then another one around the initial incision. The skin in between is removed, and the outer circle tightened down to the inner circle. It is ideal for those looking for a smaller degree of change.
- Lollipop Mastopexy – This features the creation of an incision around the areola and then another reaching down from it to the breast fold. It is ideal for moderate rejuvenation.
- Inverted-T (or anchor shape) Mastopexy – This involves making a lollipop incision and then adding a curving horizontal incision across the breast fold. It is best for dealing with extreme sagging.
Since a breast lift procedure is designed to improve the shape of your breast, it does not result in a substantial change in your overall size. If this is a concern, Dr. Hubert is happy to discuss either breast augmentation or reduction surgery as well.
Your Breast Lift: What to Expect
At the start of a breast lift, anesthesia is administered to the patient. Following this, the incisions are made. Excess skin tissue is trimmed away using a scalpel and electrocautery, and the tissues of the breast are reshaped for a perkier appearance. The areolae may also be resized or repositioned as needed. Finally, the incisions are closed with the help of dissolvable stitches.
The Mastopexy Recovery Process
Breast lift surgery is performed as an outpatient, and you can expect to wear a fitted post-surgical bra during the recovery period. You will need to follow Dr. Hubert’s post-surgical care directions closely in order to achieve the best and most natural results after healing. This will also minimize the chance of complications.
Breast Lift Cost
There are many considerations that go into determining the price of a mastopexy. The time it takes to perform the procedure, the amount of tissue removed, and the techniques used all impact breast lift cost. An average cost for a mastopexy at Richmond Plastic Surgeons is approximately $5900. However, if the correction you need is smaller and takes less time, it may be less.
