This patient had had a lumpectomy and radiation on the right breast more than 10 years earlier for breast cancer. It recurred, and she had a total mastectomy as a result. At that time, she was not offered breast reconstruction, with the result you see in the Before photo. Dr. Hubert then reconstructed a breast on the right with a DIEP flap. He also performed a lift (mastopexy) on the left side for better balance and made a new nipple on the right. To complete the process, she had a tattoo on the right to reconstruct the areola and match that on the left.
