This young woman was diagnosed with a BRCA2 genetic mutation. This increases her lifetime risk for breast cancer to somewhere between 45% and 70%. She decided to have prophylactic (preventative) mastectomies to lower this risk. Dr. Hubert reconstructed both of her breasts with DIEP flaps. He was able to make her breasts larger with the DIEP flaps, which recruited skin and soft tissue from her abdomen to her chest. It also helped improve the shape of her tummy. And she keeps her belly button.
