This woman had very large breasts (macromastia) but unfortunately developed a cancer on the left. It was treated with lumpectomy (by the oncologic breast surgeon) followed by radiation therapy. Dr. Hubert performed a balancing reduction for the right side, as well as a reduction on the left to improve the shape. However, with such severe radiation damage, there were wound healing problems and the breast mound shrunk and became very hard (intermediate photo). Therefore, she had a completion mastectomy on the left to remove the severely deformed breast (although the cancer was clear), and Dr. Hubert placed a DIEP flap at the same time. She had one round of fat transfer (fat grafting) to the left breast, as well as nipple reconstruction.
